Shinjini Mehrotra | Artist, Tarot Reader, Soul Warrior 2

Hello ladies!

I’m Shinjini, and I’m from New Delhi, India. I work full-time as a business editor with an asset management firm – yup, dry, boring, financial stuff!

I make up for all that boring financial jargon by spending my evenings happily splashing paint in my art journal or on canvas {or rather my favourite surface – watercolor paper!}. I can spend hours at the painty table — and that’s where you will find me on most weekends. This surprises me sometimes, because around 8 years ago, I couldn’t draw a stick figure to save my life! I’m a self-taught artist, and over the years, as I combined my other loves (tarot, journaling) with art, I found just how healing and gently transformational it can be.

I’ve also been reading the tarot since about 17/18 years, and recently started offering readings via my website, When I use the cards for myself, though, it’s mostly from a depth psychology/shadow work/personal growth perspective – that’s where this tool really shines. It’s just a pity that most people think of it as merely fortune telling. Anyway!

I’m also an avid reader. I primarily read fiction with a smattering of non-fiction and depth psychology and spirituality mixed in.

I live with my husband and our two fur babies, Simba and Loki in a quiet neighbourhood where we can still hear the birds. Quite a rarity in the hustle and bustle of this big bustling corner of the world I call home. My mornings are spent with a journal and a cup of coffee as I listen to birdsong and try to write over Simba, who of course wants to curl up in my lap the moment he sees me writing! 😉

Anyhow! I’m happy to be here, and I look forward to connecting with all of you in the engagement threads, and getting to know y’all better.

Welcome @moderngypsy – it is so amazing to have you join us and to read your Introduction so I can get to know you better.

I’ve got tarot cards but I very rarely use them. One thing that really stands out for me is when I used them at the beginning of February 2011. I can’t remember the exact details but it was clear that there was going to be a huge amount of change in my life and then a week later I found out I was pregnant with my first baby. Within 6 months I was married and living in a new town with my husband. Within 4 months of my baby being born I was no longer satisfied with my business and I changed it completely and started working online.

About a year after all this change I was going through my things and I found my tarot cards with that reading still stuck in the book and had a look at it again, it was mind-blowing.

I agree with you though, I only use the tarot cards for myself and I do it mostly for fun and it helps me reflect on myself and my personal growth.

Wow! What a lovely tarot story! I love how this deck of 78 cards can offer up such insight and wisdom. I do read the tarot for others too, but I find most people still look at it for fortune telling.
