Nicole Steyn | Pin Pal Media – Social Media & Pinterest Marketing & Solopreneur 2

Hello ladies!
My name is Nicole from Johannesburg, South Africa. I’m newly married (coming up for our 1st anniversary now in August), and dog mom to 2 Jack Russell princesses who I had to leave behind at my parents house (Mom wouldn’t let them move out with me, haha!)

I run my own businesses from home. I’ve been doing this since December 2017 and loving it! I currently have 3 business ventures going:
1. Pin Pal Media – my social media and Pinterest management company
2. Sugar Blossoms – my baking business making cakes, cookies and sweet treats
3. Coffee – I recently became a wholesale distributor for Highland Coffee Roastery (in Clarens, South Africa) with my husband.

Pin Pal Media is my main business, helping solopreneurs and mompreneurs run their social media. I’ve been blogging since I finished school. My first blog was random bits of info from my life as a University student. After Uni, I started a Travel Blog which didn’t go to far, cause I didn’t really travel all that often especially since I got a full time job just after that. I worked for a small marketing agency in Johannesburg as a copywriter and social media manager for 3 years before leaving to start Pin Pal Media. I only managed to start the PPM blog in January this year. But I’m slowly building it up nicely.

Besides my Bachelor’s Degree, I have completed many online short courses in social media, photography, graphic design, Pinterest Management and even Cooking and Manifestation.
I’m currently completing one in Email Marketing. What can I say? I LOVE learning!

I’m so passionate about food, baking, being creative and helping people. I sometimes think I help others to my own detriment, but that doesn’t stop me. It’s the foundation on my business.
I have always loved writing from the day I learned how. I’ve always written my own little stories and poems. In high school I enjoyed writing my own songs (I play the piano and was part of my church band for 11 years). So, blogging is really a great fit for me.

Most days you find me at my desk overlooking the dog park next door, with some great music jamming and an empty coffee cup (why don’t they refill themselves?)

You can find my blog at

Since I’m the second introduction, I can only share Lynne’s introduction. Lynne is an incredible woman who I only met through her Facebook group 3 weeks ago. But in these few weeks I’ve got to know Lynne better and all I can say is she is the right one to be leading this group! Her passion, drive and willingness to help all of us is just beyond! Thank you Lynne!
I’m so excited to be a part of this group! And can’t wait to read everyone else’s intros!

Hi Nicole, it is so nice to learn a little bit more about you 🙂

I have to say that I am (pleasantly) surprised with all the things you do 🙂 Social media + cake + coffee = fantastic mix (at least for me it is) 🙂

And I have to say that I really enjoy reading your articles. You have a fantastic writing style and the topics are totally my area.

    Hi Nicole,
I just wanted to say WOW you are a jack of all trades. South Africa sounds pretty cool I’ve actually always wanted to visit there. Maybe one day if I ever start making money from my blog I can save up to vacation there.

It’s lovely to get to know you better! Your 1st wedding anniversary is coming up in August and I’m going to be celebrating my 8th in August ❤ Being married is amazing.

It’s so amazing that you have your own businesses in different things you are passionate about! I love baking too but I’m not very talented at it. I get a good few flops!

    Hello Nicole,

I enjoyed reading your introduction, you sound like someone I would like to befriend. I am working on my bachelor in psychology. You and I have one thing in common which is helping people at your own detriment.

Looking forward to doing more in this group.

    Heya Nicole

So awesome to meet you. Congratulations on your marriage (sorry to hear you weren’t able to take your Jack Russell’s with you).

Sounds like you have your hands full though with 3 businesses! I’m sure I’m going to learn a lot from you about social media. I muddle along but I think I’m pretty close to handing over to a Social Media Manager. We need to talk. 🙂

Looking forward to reading more of your posts on your site and getting to know you better through this forum.

    All the best

    Hey Nicole!

Your introduction is truly interesting. As you mentioned, you seem to be a person who enjoys learning and gaining new experiences. I relate a lot with you and your entrepreneurial spirit (only the spirit since I’m not yet an entrepreneur 😛 ).

Hoping to interact with you and learn from your experiences through this community. 🙂

Hello, Nicole, it’s nice to meet you. Your skills appeal to me because I have still so far to go in learning how to make the most of social media. I just got Tailwind for Pinterest and am learning how to use it and what it can do for my business.

Also, South Africa is one of those places I’d love to visit, though I’m sticking close to family until my husband retires. He keeps postponing that.

I’m trying to imagine keeping up with three businesses! You must be organized indeed. And I am – sort of — searching for some kind of organized cooking course, as I’m self-taught and it seems I could learn a lot about basic skills, presentation, baking. I just don’t know when as I’m one of those retirees that is busier than when teaching high school. Like you, I just want to keep on learning. I sing in an acapella choir and volunteer at a botanic garden.

We also have a Jack Russell, though he looks part Chihuahua.

I look forward to sharing more with you on this site!

Hi Beth @amealinmind ! It’s so good to meet you and know that we share so much in common.
To be honest, I’m not as organized as I’d like to be. But I do try plan out a lot ahead of time and I like to keep good routines that keep me on track.
You definitely should visit South Africa at some point, it really is beautiful! I’m only ever traveled outside of the country once because there is just so much to see here. Although, I would love to travel to the US, Canada, South America and Europe very soon!

If you ever need a little help with Pinterest, let me know? I’m always happy to help!

    Hi Nicole,

Thanks for a lovely introduction post! I checked out your blog and love the design/ format of your posts. I especially enjoyed your post on “How to Organically Grow Your Instagram”- it was very relevant as I just finished planning my month goals for my blog and was feeling a bit hopeless about my slow Instagram progress.

Looking forward to getting to know you better!

Great to meet you Nicole – I was excited right off the bat to read about all you do. You have so many irons in the fire, I can relate. Your skills in Pinterest I am sure I can learn a lot from and maybe reaching out for help now and again. I am also a lover of coffee and food. I am sure I will be checking your blog often to learn and grow. Have a lovely day – Angela
